Before the Animals Wake
Landscape work starts earlier than wildlife work. Ron Bensimon is in position while the sky is still black, waiting for the ten minutes when a baobab silhouette burns against the first orange light. The savanna at sunrise is the establishing shot of every safari — the stage before the actors arrive.
Night on the Savanna
Far from any city, the African night sky is dense enough to photograph by. A lone acacia beneath the Milky Way requires nothing more than a tripod, a wide lens and thirty patient seconds — and the discipline to stop looking at the camera and simply look up.
The Green Exceptions
Between the dry plains hide waterfalls and forest ravines that feel like another continent. Ron photographs these green rooms with long exposures, letting the water blur into silk while the rock stays sharp. Together these frames complete the portrait of Africa his wildlife images begin.
